The Somer Valley Foodbank is recruiting new volunteers to help in this project. Volunteers would be required to meet clients, give them a cup of tea or coffee, chat with them, select and pack the food orders from the store, and signpost them to other help agencies.
The foodbank is designed to help individuals and families in crisis through the provision of emergency food supplies. Local care professionals in the Somer Valley area refer people by issuing them a voucher for the foodbank.
We have a distribution centre in Midsomer Norton, Paulton, Radstock and Peasedown.
At the centre the clients are given their food supplies, a cup of coffee and help in finding other professionals who can help them out of their crisis.
The foodbank gives the general public the opportunity to contribute to and support local well-being in a simple, practical way.
There will be training to explain how we are part of the Trussell Trust and what procedures will need to be followed.
If you are interested in helping at one of the distribution centres and are willing to attend a one hour training session, then contact Paul Woodward on: [email protected] or visit the website at: www.somervalley.foodbank.org.uk
