The recent celebration of The Beatles at Midsomer Norton Town Hall was a resounding success, where a splendid time was had by all. The Beatles’ spirit of fun and love ran through the whole weekend.
The first night saw a capacity crowd enjoy the South West’s premiere Beatles tribute band, ‘All You Need is the Beatles’. The audience were very quickly singing along, waving paper flowers, and later dancing in the aisles.
The band delivered an entertaining and authentic Fab Four sound, featuring many classic songs, and the Assembly Room was brightly decorated with balloons, bunting, large flowers, props and banners, to evoke the spirit of 1967, and the
Beatles’ music and career.
Sunday featured a screening of Beatles’ film, ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, followed by a Beatles-themed open mic in the evening. Several local acts performed their own versions of Beatles songs, including The Chumley Warner Brothers, Wellow Brook, Guts, Peas in the Pub, George&Martyn and Ben Wilshire.
House band, ‘The Threatles’, closed the weekend with ‘All You Need is Love’, with the assembled audience singing and swaying along.
The Midsomer Norton Community Trust would like to thank all the volunteers and musicians that helped deliver the event, and we hope to arrange something similar for next year.
