This coming Friday, 5th December, is the Midsomer Norton Christmas Nativity Fayre – taking place in the Hollies Garden between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
You can start the celebrations early on the night by making your own lantern in the library, between 3.30 p.m. and 5 p.m., with an opportunity to display them later during the traditional lights switch-on at 7 p.m.
On the night of the Christmas Fayre, there will be a range of events and activities for the whole family, including live interactive Nativity story scenes, carols with a brass band, face-painting, Christmas lanterns, free mince pies and warm fruit punch.
Dress up in our costumes and have your own free 'Nativity Picture' taken to download. Father Christmas will be in the Town Hall (from 5.30 p.m.), as well as community stalls, late night shopping and, of course, the countdown for the annual lights switch-on.
This year's Nativity competition offers fantastic cash prizes of £50, £40 or £30 for the winners, plus a digital copy of the creative Imagine, Make, Believe magazine and, of course, chocolates.
Welton Baptist Church have teamed up with imaginemakebelieve.com to place Nativity characters in participating shops and the library in Midsomer Norton High Street for those taking part to find and collect.
The shops taking part include: Dockys, Party Plus, Pierre Hairdressers, EyeTech, Rosecraft, Essence Café, Paperwork Plus, Object Giftshop, Norton Discount, Sweet Pea Floral Design (formerly Miller Ashman), Out of Asia, Lloyds Pharmacy (next to Heart Foundation), Norad Travel, Norton Sports and Camping, Muffins, Casswells, Michael Gould and M&Co.
Collect the stable and background scenery, with instructions on how to put your set together from Midsomer Norton Library, where you can also see a Nativity scene sample. Then look for a small competition sticker with a star on it in participating shop windows.
Collect as many of the different characters as possible from the eighteen shops to create your own Nativity Scene at home. Ask at the till for your character. (No purchase necessary.)
On the night of the Midsomer Norton Christmas Nativity Fayre, you will be able to collect the final character by requesting it at the live scenes from the
Nativity story outside of Sainsbury's or, alternatively, after the night from
Midsomer Norton Library.
Use your imagination to colour, decorate and display your set at home. Take a photo of your completed set on display and email it, with your name and contact number, to us here at The Journal, via: [email protected]">[email protected] by midnight on Tuesday, 9th December.
