Trinity Church School, incorporating Acorns Nursery, has been judged to be ‘Good’ in all aspects of school life by Ofsted following an inspection last month. Staff at Trinity Church School have been praised by

government inspectors for bringing the school out of ‘Special Measures’ and ‘transforming all aspects of the school’s work’.

Staff have successfully overcome many challenges and ‘created an ethos where pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is at the centre of the school’s work’. Inspectors also noted a school where ‘staff morale

is high’, resulting from ‘excellent professional relationships’.

This is a tremendous achievement for the school, which went into special measures in April 2016 and then became part of the Midsomer Norton Schools’ Partnership in June that same year. In the report, the inspectors highlighted the Trust as being ‘pivotal in the success of the school’ and in securing the necessary improvement.

Mr Alun Williams, CEO of the Midsomer Norton Schools’ Partnership, said: “I am delighted that the Partnership has been able to support the improvements at Trinity. The school has changed beyond all recognition, and Michelle Parsons, the staff, parents and of course, the children, deserved to be recognised for their excellent work and dedication. Well done to everyone for making the school such a success.”

Inspectors gave credit to Executive Headteacher, Michelle Parsons, for ‘her steely drive for improvement’ and her leadership team for their motivation and dedication in moving the school forward and creating ‘a culture of high expectations’, ensuring that ‘there are no barriers to pupils’ success’. Inspectors also noted that the whole staff team had been crucial in improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, which ‘has vastly improved’. They were also

impressed with the ‘high quality support for pupils who have complex needs, and have an education, health and care plan,’ and the rigorous safeguarding procedures which make pupils feel safe and secure.

Executive Headteacher, Michelle Parsons, comments: “I’m delighted with this report from Ofsted, which is a testament to the commitment and hard work of the staff, pupils, governors and leaders from the Trust.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their professionalism and dedication on a journey that was, at times, quite challenging.

“The report acknowledges the journey, especially in developing a culture of high expectations and the improvement in the quality of teaching, learning and assessment. After a great deal of hard work, it is very rewarding to receive a ‘Good’ grading from the Ofsted inspectors.

“There is a great deal of potential here at Trinity, and we look forward to working with the pupils, parents, governors, the Trust and community in the future.”
