Daring Tesco Manager, Neil Lacey, presented a cheque to Verity Clark of Dorothy House on Friday, after raising £1,172 by completing a sponsored Wing Walk, where he was strapped to the top of a moving biplane as it flew over the outskirts of Cirencester!

Having previously undertaken cross-country walks and a sykdive in the name of charity, Neil was eager to take on what was arguably his bravest challenge yet – being strapped to the wings of a plane during flight.

On 18th October, following several cancellations, Neil took to the sky, once the fog had lifted, for around fifteen minutes, flying from Rendcomb airfield. Neil said: “Doing the skydive last year was amazing, but this experience was better. A lot of people probably have things like this on their wishlist.

“Not only was I able to do it, but I got to raise money for charity by doing it.

“We flew for around fifteen minutes, so it was the whole package. I don’t know what I can do to top this now.

“Next time I’ll have to do a loop-the-loop!”

Beckie Eschle, Community Champion for Tesco, added: “Every year, we try to put a management member of staff out of their comfort zone for charity.”

Donations were given by fellow members of staff, alongside family and friends, to raise the total of £1,172. The chosen charity was Dorothy House Hospice Care. Neil’s is one of thirteen organised Wing Walks for Dorothy House, which together have raised over £20,000.
