Bath Ethnic Minority Senior Citizens Association (BEMSCA) are holding a drop-in session at Unit 14 on Friday, 24th November, for people from ethnic minority backgrounds to discuss their experiences of accessing health and wellbeing services.
BEMSCA was established in September 1993, initially to provide a luncheon club service for older members of the Caribbean, Asian and Chinese communities within Bath and North East Somerset. Today, BEMSCA offer a space where older members of the community can meet and socialise with people from a similar ethnic background to themselves, at Fairfield House. They can access advice and information on a broad range of health, housing and welfare issues which can be a lifeline for people who do not speak English as their first language.
This year, BEMSCA will be thirty-years-old and to celebrate this amazing achievement, they are looking at running community engagement events across Bath and North East Somerset including Midsomer Norton, Radstock and Keynsham.
If you are from an ethnic minority background, or English isn’t your first language, BEMSCA would like to meet with you at their first event in Midsomer Norton. The informal drop-in, featuring free drinks and cakes, will take place at Unit 14 (South Rd, Midsomer Norton, Radstock BA3 2EZ) on November 24th, between 9:30am and 11:30am.
Those attending will be able to meet with BEMSCA staff to find out how they are working to improve the support and care services for older residents in our community.
