Westfield is gearing up for its fifth annual Fun Day in June. Now a firm

fixture on the Parish calendar, this popular community event has enjoyed beautiful weather and bigger crowds each year. The event is overseen by the Parish Council, but it is organised by a small, dedicated group of volunteers and they are desperate to welcome more residents onto their committee so that they have the capacity to expand the event with more attractions.

Donkey rides, funfair attractions, majorettes, the Beau Street Hoard, the S&D Railway travelling exhibition, brass bands and Punch and Judy have all featured at the Fun Day, and each year the committee aims to make the event bigger and better.

As well as volunteers to get the event up and running, the team also need volunteers to help out on the day. Residents can give anything from one hour to a whole day of their time on the day to help set up, run a stall, or tidy up. Being involved in a community event is a great way to get together with other residents of Westfield, make new friends and be part of a happy social event. You only need to give as much time as you are able and volunteers of all ages are welcome. If you would like to find out more, please call Phil Wilkinson on: 01761 431355 or just come along to a meeting on Wednesdays 26th April and 24th May, 7 p.m. at Westhill Sports and Community Centre on Westhill Road.
