This year’s service was hosted by the Roman Catholic members of the Midsomer Norton World Day of Prayer committee and they were permitted to use the Abbey, which made for a special setting.

The theme was, ‘I know the plans I have for you,’ which is a quote from Isaiah. It was prepared by women of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, (Scotland is independent).

Janet Curwen, as the President and Roman Catholic Member of the committee, was Leader 1, Kathy Dymond, Secretary of the committee and member of Midsomer Norton Methodist Church, was Leader 2, Tim Clarke (RC) lead the reflection. Others taking part were from Trinity Westfield, Sybil Fry; Salvation Army, Elsie Nash; Midsomer Norton Methodist, Helen Green, Kay Greening and Sally Brick. Our organist was Helen Bridges.

The service was very appropriate to the times we are in and an extra prayer was included for the people of Ukraine.

After the service refreshments were served at St Benedict’s Parish Rooms, where we enjoyed one another’s company.
