Thursday, 4th July will be red-carpet night at Writhlington School as students from the famous Orchid Project host the World Premier of a new nature film all about orchids – and it could possibly be attended by a very special guest.

The film, which is narrated by Sir David Attenborough, explores this remarkable plant family and was filmed by Bristol-based wildlife film specialists, Sky Vision.

The film features the jungles of Borneo, Britain's rare native orchids and the orchid growers of Writhlington School.

Writhlington pupils helped out by supplying orchid species for filming and spending two days last summer talking about their plants and experiences.

VIP guests will include the wildlife film crew and many of the scientists and growers featured in the film. Sir David Attenborough is invited, but may not attend due to his recent medical treatment.

The public event runs from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a full supporting programme of greenhouse tours, photographic displays and relevant sales tables. The film starts at 7 p.m. with a special presentation by the production team.

Teacher, Simon Pugh-Jones MBE, said this week: "My students are very excited about the event and we are delighted to have this opportunity.

"Monies raised from the event will help to support student's conservation work with schoolchildren in Rwanda."
