Why not join the Mendip Ramblers for the August Bank Holiday Walking Festival which is held this year on Saturday, 25th, Sunday, 26th and Monday, 27th August. Each day there will be four walks, three of varying distances starting at 10.00 a.m., plus one shorter walk starting at 1.00 p.m. Park and meet at the Village
Hall, Fosse Way, (A367), Stratton on the Fosse, Radstock, BA3 4QQ.
Members spend the week before making cakes for the traditional end of festival aprés walk session. A sitdown cup of tea and a large slice of gorgeous, homemade cake. (Tested in previous years by the Editor.)
Previous sessions have attracted large numbers of walkers unused to organised rambles. The walks have a leader and a back marker to ensure no one gets left behind. Comfort breaks are no problem and all day walks usually involve both a coffee stop and a lunch break at a point of interest.
Mendip Ramblers welcome well-controlled dogs on most walks – short leads are essential near livestock.
So, if you have some free time over the Bank Holiday weekend, join the Mendip Ramblers for a day or half-day out in the country. You will be surprised by what can be found on your doorstep!
