The 2013 Farrington Park Ladies Club Championship was played over two days last weekend, Saturday, 1st and Sunday, 2nd June, in glorious weather, excellent course conditions and a great atmosphere from the 31 ladies who took part.
Saturday started well and finished with some great results. Eleven handicap and former Ladies Champion, Lena Warren, was leading the field at the end of day one, with a gross 81, closely followed by eighteen-year-old Aimee Sawyer with 83, and in third place, with everything to still play for, was Terri O'Shea with gross 86. Liz Thomas, with a nett 73, led the field for the Nett Trophy.
Sunday once again started with everyone in good spirits for day two of the competition and after some great golf, the winners were finally revealed. Terri O'Shea, Sue Stilwell and Suzanne Young all had two spots on day one, and on day two, Corinne Durbin. Best Gross day one was Pauline Young with 92, Best Gross day two was Jackie Walker with 88, Best Nett day one was Kate Johnson-Jones with 77 and Best Nett day two was Jacqui Gregory with 73. The Gross Over-Fifties Not So Young Trophy was won by Suzanne Young, with an excellent combined score of 173. The winner of the Nett Trophy with a combined score of 144, knocking a further two shots from her round the previous day, was Liz Thomas. Runner-up was Mandy Hobbs with 149 and third was Maureen Charlton with a nett 152.
Farrington Park Ladies Club Champion 2013 was a well deserved Aimee Sawyer. Aimee who was always the one to beat, proudly took this year's trophy, with a great combined 170 gross. Runner-up was Lena Warren with 173 and in third place with 177 was Terri O'Shea.
