The Men came into their own this week in the MSL game on Wednesday. They beat our friends from Norwest on two rinks, drew on one and lost on one, but took thirteen of the sixteen points on offer. Even on a warm summer evening, everyone enjoyed the pasty and beans served by the Ladies.

The Ladies didn’t fair so well in their Mendip League game, and came away with only three points of the ten on offer against a strong team from Bath Bowling Club and a very tricky fast green.

The game against Congresbury was postponed and will now be played on Friday, 7th Septemeber at 10.30 a.m., as Fosseway are hosting the MSL Mixed Final on that evening.

The Men are playing the Wedmore Plate competition on Tuesday at home, followed by MSL Frome Selwood away on the Wednesday.

The Ladies have the first round of the Fear Cup at home on Friday against Chew Stoke. We are short of Ladies for this game, so please see Sue Burke to put your names down.

Barnwood away day was a great success in many ways, despite us losing on all five rinks. The hospitality was second to none, the bowling was very enjoyable even though the weather was very hot. The visit to Gloucester Quays in the morning proved very acceptable to the Ladies with the shopping. The traditional ham salad bowls tea was enjoyed followed by strawberries and ice cream.

We were three players short at Barnwood as Carole, Sheila and Thelma played at Ilminster in the Semi-Final of the National triples. Unfortunately, they lost to a very strong team who fielded top Somerset bowlers. I think the hot weather also took its toll. We as a club are very proud of them for reaching the semi finals.

There is still time to come and join us on a Monday evening – new bowlers are always welcome. Come and meet us and have a drink and maybe try our snacks.
