Our Somerset youngsters, including local bowlers Cameron Bowen from Purnell’s Bowls Club along with Chloe Holmes and Jack Vine from Norwest Bowls Club, did us proud this weekend when they travelled to Yeovil to meet a team from Dorset for their first game in the Under 18’s National Indoor Bowls, Two Rink Triples Competition.

It was a brilliant, if nail biting competition, with the tension rising when our squad lost a whole seven shots on one end, but they made an amazing comeback drawing ten shots back on the next three ends. Overall the standard of bowls was incredible and Somerset came away with a well earned 42 -25 shot win.

Their next round will be against Wiltshire at the Dolphin Bowls Club, Poole when hopefully they will triumph once again.

The competition is split into three county groups with the winners of each section and the best runner up going to the National final in Nottingham in March.

Well done to all our squad, not forgetting our subs Lucas Powell & Zach Broom who were there at the ready in case needed. Well done lads and I hope you enjoyed your game of cards. NH
