Well they did it! Once again Somerset’s youngsters came home triumphant after their second win in the National Under 18’s Triples Bowls Competition.
On Saturday, Somerset’s team of Cameron Bowen (Purnells), Chloe Holmes & Jack Vine (Norwest/Purnells), Lydia Sheldrake (Bristol), Jamie Day (Ilminster), Madi King and sub Zach Broom (Clevedon) along with team manager, Peter Bisset and a large contingent of supporters, travelled to the Dolphin Bowling Club in Poole for their second round game in the competition. And didn’t they do us proud. Our youngsters fairly trounced the opposing team from Wiltshire with an amazing seventy seven to sixteen shots! This means with maximum points they automatically go through to the semi-finals at Nottingham on 26th March.
The competition is split into three regional groups with the winner of each group, along with the highest runners up going to Nottingham for the semi finals and final. The semi finals will be played in the morning and the two winning teams will go on to play the final in the afternoon. It’s going to be an exciting day for our team with, fingers crossed, two games to play!
It’s going to be a tiring day for our team and an equally exhausting and nerve wracking one for their mums, dads, grandparents and all their other supporters who will be going along to cheer them on. Come on our Somerset youngsters... we know you can do it! NH
