Representatives from the charity pictured left to right are Lydia Newman, Meg Newman and Andy Newman together with Alan Skivington and current Senior Captain, Alan Smith receiving the large cheque for £3406. This is a remarkable total bearing in mind the restrictions placed on golfers since the pandemic struck in March 2020.

At the presentation Alan commented: “My daughter-in-law Laura, coupled with David, our past Seniors Captain, were diagnosed with a brain tumour in fairly quick succession, I wanted to do something that would support a charity in this area.

“I was really impressed with the objectives of The Brain Tumour Charity in looking to defeat brain tumours through a variety of strategies and I hope that the funds raised by our seniors section will assist them in their efforts.

“I'm very pleased to say that the tumours of both Laura and David are in remission."

Founded in 1996, the charity has undergone rapid expansion in the past few years, following the merger of the Brain Tumour UK, Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust and the Joseph Foote Trust.

In 2020 they merged with Meningioma UK, consolidating their resources in a drive to improve services and outcomes for everyone affected by a brain tumour.
