The club recently celebrated another year of success – with an evening of skittles and presentation of awards.

The club fields six teams that play against other clubs – plus numerous other regional and national competitions. This year we won many of our matches, some just missing out on the Finals. A special mention goes to our two GC Handicap teams (Handicaps mean extra turns can be taken), who came second in their groups.

There are also competitions just for club members – ranging from beginners to more expert players – there is always something for everyone at Camerton and Peasedown. The winners were: Ros Key Pugh, Andy Loakes, David Milford, M.J. Oldland, Roger Pocklington, Fran Ralli and Nigel Wulcko.

There were special awards for the Most Improved Players; Colin Britt (who has taken part in National Development Squad training) and David Christie (a 2017 beginner). Patrick Knight gained an award for Outstanding Services to the Club. With a buffet and skittles, everyone had a very enjoyable evening.

If you are looking for a competitive interest, or if you want some healthy exercise (but not too onerous), not forgetting the social side, and where men and women play on equal terms, then croquet is for you. Camerton and Peasedown play croquet throughout the year – yes, even when it’s cold. These hardy players brave the elements to enjoy their favourite sport!

If you want to give croquet a try – or are interested in the beginner’s course starting in March – just contact Mo Boys on: 01225 708540, or Ros Key Pugh on: 01225 427525.
