WELTON Rovers’ hopes of making a winning start to the New Year in Division One of the Jewson Western League on Saturday, January 3, were dashed by the bad weather.
Rovers, who won at Radstock on Boxing Day, were due to play at home against leaders Devize Town but the game was postponed because of the poor state of the pitch. It was one of six matches called off in the division.
It means Welton remain bottom of the table, having won only two of their 19 fixtures. However, they will be hoping to kick-start their season when they play away to Odd Down on Saturday, January 10.
Fixtures - Division One, January 10: Almondsbury v Warminster Town, Avonmouth v Cheddar, Bitton v Hengrove Athletic, Calne Town v AEK Boco, Devizes Town v Bristol Telephones, Keynsham Town v Sturminster Newton United, Odd Down v Welton Rovers, Radstock Town v Mendip Broadwalk, Shirehampton v Cadbury Heath, Wells City v Longwell Green Sports.
