CAMERTON and Peasedown Croquet Club are this year honoured to be hosting the final of the prestigious All England Golf Croquet Handicap Competition on the weekend of September 13 and 14.

The All-England Handicap Tournaments start at club level with self-organised competitions that produce a number of individual qualifiers to compete at the local Area Finals. The number of qualifiers from each club depends on the entry size within the club. These tournaments are particularly suitable for newcomers to competitive play.

Camerton and Peasedown CC held their own club qualifying competitions during the first week of June. In two separate sessions twelve players played the ‘All Play All’ format using the Advantage handicap system and this produced two CPCC club qualifiers, Patrick Knight and Jill Parker, who will now go forward to the Area Finals scheduled to be held at Bath CC on Sunday, August 10.

Winners at the Area Finals proceed to the National Finals which will be held on the Camerton and Peasedown lawns on 13th and 14th September. This will be a great opportunity to watch some talented croquet players competing at the National Level.

In other club news all the teams entered into the South West Federation Leagues are progressing well through their fixture lists with good wins for the Golf Croquet High Handicap, GC Handicap, GC 5+ Level play teams and the AC Intermediate team.

On April 25th, the CPCC 5+ Level Play ‘A’ team scored a draw, at 10 points each, against the CPCC ‘B’ team. On April 30th the AC Intermediate League team beat Nailsea CC by 6 points to 1 and on May 1st CPCC 5+Level Play ‘B’ team beat Bath CC 12 points to 8.

Two excellent results were recorded by the CPCC High Handicap team when they beat Bristol CC by 10.5 points to 7.5 on May 2nd and again on May 9th when they beat Bath CC by 14 points to 6.
