Farrington Park's Mixed Section competed for the Parker Charity Shield on Sunday, 6th April in an American Greensomes Stableford.
In American Greensomes, each player tees off and then plays their partner's ball for their second shot. Thereafter, the players decide which of the second shots is best and then play alternate shots with that ball, until it is either holed or their Stableford points are exhausted. On par three holes, the best tee shot is chosen, with shots being alternated from that point. Penalty shots are included, when incurred, but do not affect the order in which shots are played.
Rob Thain and Lin Papadopoulos won with 36 Stableford points on countback. Sean Watts and Kate Johnson-Jones came second and Dave Forshaw and Margaret Seery came third, with 36 Stableford points on countback. The Ladies' Nearest the Pin on the fifteenth hole was won by June Symonds. The Men's Nearest the Pin on the fifteenth hole was won by John Calway. Nearest the Pin in two shots on the fourteenth hole was won by Didi Ager and Wayne Spencer.
The winner's prize of Moet and Chandon Champagne was donated by the Shield's benefactor, Anne Parker. Competition entry fees and fundraising at the Parker Charity Shield raised £361 for the Captain's Charity, the RUH Forever Friends Appeal.
