Farrington Golf and Country Club has changed its name to Farrington Park this week to reflect the varied activities offered by the premier country club in North Somerset.
Owner, Paul Harwood, who has invested an additional £2 million since paying £1.5 million for the golf club thirteen years ago, said: "The change of name reflects how the business has evolved over the years.
"The principle activity will always remain the 27-hole golf complex that has matured almost beyond recognition, but we are now a much more diverse business and I want to reflect that in the name.
"Golf is paramount and the many tributes paid by members and our visitors alike are testimony to the development of both the Duchy and Manor Courses over the years."
In a letter to members, he said: 'The name change does not affect your membership or the fabulous club we have all created together. It will simply make it easier to market all the services we are now able to offer.
'We are lucky to have a strong membership of the golf and health and fitness clubs and we hope that simply a change of name will not detract from your feeling as being a valued member.
'My investment has not only improved the Farrington experience for everyone, but also provided a firm foundation for the future.'
The infrastructure has developed over the years. Now a modernised, extended clubhouse features a state-of-the-art health and fitness club and highly-rated new Oaks Restaurant that is open to the public.
Two major function suites host weddings, conferences, parties and gatherings of all sizes. A number of elite smaller businesses are also on site and the name Farrington Park embraces the changes and improvements.
