Cricket fans are in for a treat this Sunday, (7th July) as the Somerset Women's Cricket Team pursue their push for promotion at Midsomer Norton Cricket Club's ground.
This is the team's first visit to Midsomer Norton and club officials hope that the prospect of seeing international cricketers will ensure a good turnout for this exciting fixture.
Somerset hope to build on a campaign that has seen them win five out of six of their fifty-over County Championship matches so far this season. The team are intent on making the Division Two final and so need to win their last two matches – against Wales at Midsomer Norton and against Devon at Minehead on the following Sunday.
In the build-up to the match against Wales at Midsomer Norton, three players will be on international duty – Anya Shrubsole, with England, and Fran Wilson and Sophie Luff with the England Academy. When England finished third at the 2013 World Cup in India, Anya Shrubsole was England's leading wicket-taker, with thirteen wickets, and Fran Wilson has been coaching youngsters at Midsomer Norton CC in recent weeks. All are welcome to attend. The match starts at 11 a.m. and refreshments will be available in the clubhouse.
