New training equipment and coaching from an England international cricketer are some of the benefits that youth team players at Midsomer Norton Cricket Club are seeing, following the award of a grant by Midsomer Norton Town Council.

The Council funding means that new equipment is already being put to good use at Thursday evening training sessions at the club's Withies Lane ground. At the same time, youth team members receive guidance and tips from Somerset Women and England one-day international cricketer, Fran Wilson. Fran and her Somerset teammates will play an ECB Women's County Championship match against Wales at Midsomer Norton's ground on July 7th.

The club will also use the grant to help more members get training and qualifications to coach young cricketers in future seasons. Youth team practice sessions start at 6 p.m. every Thursday. For more information, email Steve Cox at: [email protected]">[email protected]
