SOUTH African all rounder Migael Pretorius will be returning to the Cooper Associates County Ground for a third season after he signed a multi format contract which means he will be available for the whole of 2026.

The 30 year old first joined Somerset during the summer of 2024, scoring 324 runs and taking 23 wickets in eight County Championship matches. During that time, he became popular with his teammates as well as the Somerset members and supporters. He returned to Taunton for the 2025 season and featured in 12 matches across the three formats, claiming 33 wickets and scoring 240 runs. In the county championship he had a season’s best score of 59, while with the ball his best return was 5 for 64 Last summer he also played a crucial role on Vitality Blast Finals Day at Edgbaston in September claiming three for 27 and scoring 12 from three balls in the semi-fina, as Somerset won the T20 for the second time in three years. After agreeing to return to Somerset, Migael said: “I have really enjoyed playing for Somerset over the last two years. From day one I was made to feel at home and it’s a pretty special place to play. “To be part of the team that won the Blast was incredible and hopefully we can emulate and even exceed that success in 2026.” After securing the services of Migael for another summer, Somerset Director of Cricket Andy Hurry said: “From the moment he arrived in 2024, Migael wholeheartedly bought into the culture of the club. “During his two previous spells with the club, he has shown that he has the ability to impact games with the bat, with the ball and in the field, and he will once again add valuable depth and experience to the squad.”
