Midsomer Norton CC’s Withies Lane ground hosts a Women’s Cricket Festival on Sunday, 3rd June following the successful launch of the club’s Midsomer Mavericks women’s team this season.

From 1.30 p.m. – 5.30 p.m., a warm welcome (weather permitting) will be on offer at Withies Lane – there will also be a free T-shirt, free coaching, music, and food. At the same time, the club hopes that the event will help raise funds following a recent break-in.

Softball cricket is a game for absolutely everybody, no matter your skill level, fitness, or age. It is about getting out and playing: maximum fun, minimum fuss. No pads, no hard ball, no heavy bat, no head-scratching rules.

The Mavericks’ team and the softball festival are building on the foundations laid by last year’s women’s coaching sessions at the club and Fran Wilson, a member of the England Women’s 2017 World Cup winning squad, has previously coached at the club. The festival is supported by the Somerset Cricket Board and Western Storm, the 2017 winner of the Kia Women’s Super League.

At the festival, there will be entertainment for both small and big people. A child’s band can be purchased on the day which allows children unlimited turns on the bouncy castles, a free ice-cream, a free sweet bag and a free soft drink.

Women aged 14+ are encouraged to sign up for the cricket festival. Organisers are looking for teams of 6–8 to take part, but you can also sign up as an individual and organisers will find a team for you and introduce you to your new team mates. You can register at: ecb.co.uk/womenssoftballcricket
