SOMERSET all-rounder Craig Overton has signed an extension to his contract which will see him remain at the club until at least the end of 2028.

The 31-year-old joined the Somerset Academy as a 16-year-old and went on to make his Somerset debut in April, 2012, in a County Championship match against Lancashire.

Prior to joining the Somerset Academy, the all-rounder came to the attention of the club when playing for West Buckland School, North Devon CC and the Devon performance programmes. Craig worked his way through Devon’s County Age group teams as well as lining up for Devon CCC on numerous occasions.

Craig has played 288 matches for Somerset across the three formats, scoring over 4800 runs with a best of 138 and taking 637 wickets with a best of seven for 57.

The all-rounder was an integral member of the Somerset squads which won the Royal Londin One Day Cup in 2019 and the Vitality Blast in both 2023 and 2025.

Craig made his England debut in the Ashes Test at Adelaide in 2017, making an immediate impact by bowling Australian captain Steve Smith. In total he has represented his country in eight Tests, claiming 21 wickets with a best of three for 14. He has also featured in seven ODIs in which he has taken five wickets with a best of two for 23.

Craig said: “When I was growing up, I always wanted to play here, so to extend my time with the club is a great feeling. This place means everything to me and we’re a very close-knit unit. Hopefully, we can do some more special things over the next few years.’

“The goal over the next few years is to keep helping Somerset win games. There’s obviously still that elusive Championship title, but we’re continually building and that’s the one we all want.”
