Midsomer Norton Cricket Club’s Greencaps team play their final group stage fixture in the English Cricket Board’s U19 T20 competition at the club’s Withies Lane HQ this Friday evening; the game starts at 6 p.m.. The visitors are local rivals, Timsbury.

This is the first year that Norton has entered a side in the competition. With two wins and two defeats so far, the club is pleased with the way the side has performed and hopes that a third win will be enough to take them through to finals day. In two home games last week against Bath and Kilmington, there were impressive batting performances from Toby Hobbs, Harrison Veale and Josh Rodd, the latter bringing up his maiden 50 by hitting the winning runs against Kilmington to rapturous applause from the crowd. Team manager, Dan Cox, believes there is much more to come from the Greencaps and is hoping that they can again demonstrate this in front of a large home crowd on Friday.

The coloured kits are sponsored by local business, CFH Docmail and, in addition to the cricket, there will be music, a BBQ and a well-stocked bar for the fans. The fixtures and entertainment have been made possible through sponsorship from local businesses and a grant from Vinspired, a charity dedicated to help young people volunteer in their local communities. Entry is free and all members and non-members are welcome to come on down.
