On a gloriously hot afternoon Killy travelled to as picturesque a ground as you will find for the season’s first league fixture.
Batting first, the hosts posted an imposing total of 230-8 Harry Humphries with four for forty and Stephen Jackson with three for 28 being the pick of the bowlers. Killy started slowly in reply but Jackson, who finished on 105 not out, accelerated in the later stages, including a stand of 72 with that man Humphries as Killy fell 57 runs short of the target.
A good performance against a very strong side augers well for the rest of the season. Next up home to Barrow Gurney next Sunday at Peasedown cricket club 2 p.m. start. Roger Lane
