KILMERSDON 192-7

CHILCOMPTON SPORTS 195-5

Batting first on a baking hot afternoon, after stand-in skipper, Ashley Davis, had won the toss, Killy started well, with an opening partnership of 76

between Stephen Jackson and Luke Carter, before Jackson was dismissed for 29.

The rest of the top six all contributed: Mark Batchelar (35), Matt Ball and Alex Gardiner both scoring seventeen, and skipper Davis (twelve), but the highlight was fifteen-year-old Luke Carter finishing on 59, a maiden half-century, which also incorporated his first ever six – a great effort from him as Killy finished on a very respectable 192-7.

Killy got off to a great start in the field as another fifteen-year-old, Charlotte Hazell, proudly and quite rightly claimed the prize wicket of prolific run scorer A. Nash for zero in the first over – well-caught by Jon Parry – and with Harry Humphries followed it up by dismissing F. Collins for one, the visitors were stuttering at 5-2.

However, A. Deverell (67) and H. Veale (sixty) put them well on the way to victory, before both were dismissed by Stephen Jackson. Although Matt Ball picked up the wicket of W. Higgins for 29, the visitors got home by five wickets with just under seven overs to spare. Kilmersdon CC would like to thank Brixey Auto Repairs for their kind sponsorship of this fixture. This coming weekend, Killy visit Portishead CC, with a 2 p.m. start.
