Kilmersdon opened their season on 5th Mat with a convincing home win with both skipper, Mark Batchelar, and Vice-Captain, Ashley Davis, leading from the front.
The visitors elected to bat first, and an innings of 102 from Guy Fisher – who was well supported by Ben Thorne (thirty not-out) saw them reach a more than decent total of 189-5 in their forty overs. After an early loss, in reply, Batchelar and Davis added a second wicket stand of 129 to set Killy well on the way to victory, before Davis was dismissed for a career-best 73.
Youngster, Kieron Gray, replaced him at the crease and weighed in with seventeen, but Batchelar was not to be dismissed, as he
finished 78 not-out as Killy reached their target with a comfortable 3.2 overs to spare. On Sunday, 12th May, Kilmersdon were away to Westerlegh hoping to build on their first win.
