BRISTOL BANGLADESHIS 258-7 KILMERSDON 111 all-out
Kilmersdon were well-beaten by Bristol Bangladeshis despite early promise with the ball, as the hosts’ strong middle order and accurate bowling attack were too strong for the depleted Killy side.
The home side were invited to bat first on an extremely green pitch and Kilmersdon made a good start as Charlotte Hazell took two quick wickets. However, the Tigers’ Captain, Ahmed Chowdhury (66), and Motorsir Ali Shubon (44) led the fightback before both were bowled by Leon Rigby, Chowdhury to a remarkable ball which bounced over his head from a good length to land on the wicket. Ibrahim Rumel played aggressively for 66 before falling to Ben Curtis (2-34), and there was another wicket for Rigby, Mark Batchelar taking his third catch of the innings, as the home side closed on 258-7.
The Kilmersdon chase got off to the worst possible start as the in-form Batchelar was bowled by Rumel for 6 with just 15 on the board. Matthew Ball (38) and Leon Rigby (33*) offered some resistance, but no other Kilmersdon players were able to reach double figures as the pace and movement from Rumel (4-18) ripped through the top order. There were two wickets for Kawsar Chowdhury and one apiece for Belal Ahmed and Sakib Numany, which saw the visitors dismissed for 111.
This was a difficult afternoon for Kilmersdon in tricky conditions, and they will look to bounce back this weekend with a home fixture against Exiles (Bath) CC.
