More wet weather put last Sunday afternoon’s KO Cup fixture between Midsomer Norton’s Mavericks and Frome in jeopardy.
Luckily, the weather was on side and it stayed dry for the duration.
Frome won the toss and elected to field first. The Mavericks’ opening pair started well, getting 32 runs on the board off the first four overs. The trend continued with runs being scored freely by all pairs.
A wet outfield meant that boundaries were hard to come by – but some great running between the wickets helped the Mavericks compile a very competitive 294, losing two wickets in the process.
Frome then came up against a very strong Mavericks bowling attack. They struggled to score against some really tight and well controlled bowling and some superb fielding.
Frome scored 237 runs during their innings but lost seven wickets in the process. The Mavericks won by 57 runs and will be progressing to the next round of the KO Cup and thank all scorers and umpires involved in the fixture. Charlie Matthews
