As the summer sunshine continued last Saturday, Midsomer Norton CC First XI continued their winning ways with a comfortable six wicket

victory over Bishopston.

At Withies Lane, the visitors from Bristol won the toss and opted to bat first. Bishopston batted out their full allocation of 45 overs and lost only seven wickets in the process but the varied Norton attack prevented the visitors from exerting too much pressure. At 120–2, Bishopston were well placed to post a sizeable target for Norton to chase but in the end they could only total 186–7. There were three wickets for Paul Robbins – Chris Phylips, Gary Filer and Nick Pang were the other wicket takers.

After tea Norton lost opener, Paul Robbins, early on, but Nick Pang (74) and Thomas Hankins (53 not out) shared a 95-run partnership for the second wicket.

Pang scored at just about nine runs per over. Both Nick Cox and Caleb Rowe provided Hankins with the support to see Norton home to a comfortable six wicket victory with more than 14 overs to spare.

Midsomer Norton Seconds secured a win away to Bishopston after posting a massive total of 254–6 from just forty overs.

Norton won the toss and Dan Garrett (53) and Dan Nolan (94) set the standard for the visitors. The home side made a spirited effort to chase down the target and lost only seven wickets in reaching 237, falling short by 17 runs. Charlotte Phillips, Mitchell Turner, Martin Cox, Andrew Cox and Ben Bicknell were Norton’s wicket takers.
