Temple Cloud lost the toss and were put into bat on a damp, cloudy day at Stowey Road.
With rain forecast from 4 p.m. onwards, the home team knew they’d have to bowl and field well to have any chance of securing a win, and continuing their winning run.
The Wembdon openers started at a super slow rate, playing and missing as if James Anderson was bowling at them. The Temple opening bowling partnership of Rich Appleyard and Simon Feaver bowled well, with fantastic control of a swinging and seaming new ball.
They were both unfortunate to return wicketless, as was Paul Lester, who again bowled well, with no luck. Jon Doel created chances from his first over, with three edges all falling short of fielders.
Eventually, a J. Doel slower ball took the first wicket. This was followed up by a fine catch at square leg, giving Doel 2-43.
Sadly, the rain came in the 33rd over, as both teams took an early tea, hoping that the rain would relent. Sadly, this didn’t happen, and the game was abandoned with no further play possible.
Temple’s next game is this Saturday, 18th August, away to Huntspill.
