Bedminster 2nd XI 189–8 Timsbury 190–6

Timsbury ended a topsy-turvy season in fine style with a four wicket win away to champions elect, Bedminster 2nd XI in the Bristol and District League Senior Division. It was a victory that propelled the side into third place, their highest position throughout the campaign and was a personal triumph for wicketkeeper, Adam Brinkworth, who concluded a lean season with the bat with a superb innings of 81.

After being asked to bat first, Bedminster had a number of batsmen making useful contributions only to be dismissed when well set with George Davey top scorer with 30. The Timsbury attack nagged away and there were two wickets each for Oli Hulbert, Joe Kinnear and Kev Sibley as the home side finished their 45 overs on 189–8. After the early exit of Graeme Webb, Mark Sage and Gary Pearcy took Timsbury to 50 before Pearcy went for 23. A fruitful partnership between Sage and Brinkworth took the visitors past the hundred mark before Sage was caught for 35. Brinkworth was now in full flow and his run a ball innings took Timsbury to within one ball of victory before he was

dismissed leaving Kinnear to hit the winning run.

It was another day of celebration for Timsbury 2nd XI who clinched the Bristol and District League Division Six championship with a six wicket win at home to Bristol United Banks. The experienced Steve Clothier again shone for Timsbury when they bowled first, taking 3–16 in his eight overs and with Freddie Hosford grabbing 2–45, the visitors finished on 173–7 with Zuber Pathan ending unbeaten on 54 for the Banks. Once again the home side made light of the challenge with the in-form Sol Thompson leading the way with a polished unbeaten 67 and Paul Cracknell lending good support with 44.

Timsbury 3rd XI brought their campaign in the Bristol and District League Division 14 to a disappointing conclusion with a four-wicket defeat at home to Golden Hill 6th XI.

Seb Nix was the main contributor for Timsbury when they batted first, but a total of 114 always looked below par. Neil Hulford took 2–21 for the home side but the Bristol team reached their target with four wickets to spare.

Despite the result, the 3rd XI could still look back on a good season having finished fourth in the division.
