A depleted Timsbury side were beaten by five wickets in the Senior Division of the Bristol and District League by promotion-chasing Twyford House, but results elsewhere ensured that the village side have retained their Senior status for next season.
There was also good news for the Second team, who despite defeat away to Briska, have been confirmed as champions of Division Nine.
After being put in to bat, Timsbury saw Mark Sage hit three boundaries in Ross Sutton’s first over, only for the influential opener to be caught at extra cover an over later to the bowling of Tom Armfield. Graeme Webb briefly threatened to repeat his heroics of the previous week, before falling LBW to Mark Fowler for twenty, but although there was some defiance shown by Kevin Sibley and Sam Hoddinott, the innings never really got going, as the home side were dismissed for 103. There were two wickets each for Armfield, Fowler, Sutton and James Norris.
To their credit, Timsbury defended the meagre total with a determined effort in the field. Hoddinott (3–37) and Captain, Steve Clothier (2–22), recorded good figures from their nine overs, but in the end, the visitors got over the line with five wickets and fifteen overs in hand.
