Timsbury were left bemoaning their luck after suffering a four wicket home defeat to Bristol Pakistanis in the Bristol and District League Senior Division.

After posting a more than competitive total of 186-9 from their 38 overs the home side were frustrated by a long break for rain, which eventually resulted in a late night 20 over contest that was always going to favour the side batting second.

The Timsbury innings saw not one batsman go on to make a sizeable score, but six of them got into the twenties. Jon Strand (27), captain Jesse Bishop (27 not out), Jez Hare (23), Lloyd Davies (22), Jack Williams (21) and Dan Hill (20) were the main contributors after early rain had seen the game reduced to a 38 over contest. Shoaib Ahmed, Irfan Rashid and Malik Haroon all took two wickets for the visitors.

The visitors batted for four overs before the heavy rain arrived and then after a long delay faced a further 16 overs with a revised target of 122. Sam Hoddinott bowled a tight spell to finish with 2-12 but knocks of 33 from Shayan Irfan and 29 from Raja Arbaz Hussain saw them over the line with just under two overs remaining.

Timsbury’s Second Eleven and Third Eleven both saw their games abandoned. Pucklechurch had put together 219-6 from their 33 overs when their game was called off against the seconds in Bristol in the Bristol and District League Division 5. Josh Stevenson (56) and Dan Fussell (47) led the way for the home side with Adam Workman Timsbury’s most successful bowler with 2-27.

Timsbury Third Eleven were probably the one side not to curse the British weather after their home game with Lansdown Fourth Eleven was called off in the Bristol and District League Division 13. After bowling Timsbury out for 144, Lansdown were 45-0 when the rain came. In the Timsbury innings Matt Ball made 32 and Tom Barrell 30 with Ollie Humphries taking 5-23 for the visitors.
