The Junior Club Championships saw 15 competitors playing a mix of Medal, Stableford and 9 hole events.

The six youngest competitors, some of whom were playing a competitive event for the first time, were playing for a new trophy - the Geoff Fisher Trophy for Golf Development presented by the family of a late Member. The inaugural winner was Danny Comber, playing a competition for the first time. Danny is a regular attendee of Alex Todd’s junior coaching sessions. The Stableford was won by new member 11-year-old Logan Down. Sam Hughes won the Stableford with a net 71 after count back from Owen Roach and the Gross event saw a win for Junior Captain Thomas Richardson with Owen Roach 2nd.

A total of 106 men completed in the Anniversary Cup, which saw a few excellent scores. Steve Collinson won Division 3 with a net 66, two ahead of Geoff Clarke. Division 2 went to David Graham with a fine 64 losing out on the Cup on count back. Second was James Richards with 68. Division 1 saw a win for Jonathan Watts with 69 after a triple tie with Stefen Golledge and Michal Rokitowski. However the Cup went to young Alec Roberts with a net 64 after count back. Wayne Black and Scott Butland had joint best Gross with 74.

The Avalon B Team entertained Wedmore and had a fine 3.5 - 1.5 win. Successful for Mendip were Mark Necker/Tony Scott, Paul Smith/Shaun Robertson and Jack Harrington/Lee Moore with Liam Robertson/Rob Cook gaining a half.

Nearest the Pin went to Scott Butland from John Ellis and Tony Scott.

The Ladies held a Triple 6 Competition which saw a win for Jan Fukuyama/Alison Kay with 43 points. Mary Ainsworth/Vi Hayes were 2nd with 40 and Elaine Richardson/Daphne Irons were 3rd with 38. The ICL Team lost a close match 3-4 to Wheathill, not a bad result as Wheathill have just won the Somerset County Competition, the Rogers Cup.

Winning for Mendip were Chris Williams and Alison Kay with Lynn Cox and Gina Howard gaining halved matches.

Young Ffion Richardson competed in the Wee Wonders Junior Championship held at the demanding Gullane Course in Scotland. She finished Runner Up after carding Gross scores of 76 and an outstanding 69 in the 2rd round.

The Mixed Team had a fine win over Knowle 5-1. Wins from Martin Osbourne/Nola Russell, Elaine P & Rob Richardson, Margaret Allen and Bob Smallcombe, Alan & Pauline Williams and Clive Copp & Pippa Brown.

Ninety-nine Seniors competed for the Centenary Trophy. In a close-fought affair, Derek Strudwick emerged as the winner with 42 points, with Michael Anderson 2nd with 41 after count back from Nigel Jarvis.

Rob Stanton won the Veterans prize with 40 points one ahead of Adam Spragg who was 2nd on count back from John Toull. Bryan Lewis won the Seniors Past Captains Trophy this year.
