Mendip’s Men have now progressed to the semi-final stage of the Somerset County Rose Bowl. In the quarters they defeated Mendip Spring by the finest of margins 3-2. Team Captain Ryan Sainsbury and Phil Leadbeater were victorious as were Scott Butland/Tom Black winning on the 19th and Tom Chapman/Rob Cook winning on the 20th. The Team now play Worlebury in the next round.

The Mid Week Stableford saw 40 entrants and a win in Division 1 for Wayne Black, playing off 1, with a very fine 36 points, Phil Leadbeater was 2nd with 34. Division 2 went to Martin Wilkins with 35, with Henry Banks 2nd with 34 and Division 3 was won by Steve Turner with a best of the day 40 points with Hack Haskins 2nd with 37

Nearest the Pin this week was won by Jenny Merrett with Dean Lewer 2nd and Paul Jamieson 3rd.

This week the Ladies played a Ping Qualifier 4BBB event.

The overall winners with 45 points were Jenny Merrett and Jo Espley one ahead of Elaine Kitchenham & Anita Butcher. In third position with 43 came Allison Rumming & Elaine P Richardson beating Bron Cooper & Jan Fukuyama on count back.

The Seniors Avalon Team had a good win against Tall Pines with wins from Steve David/Rob Richardson, David Braithwaite/Steve Turner and Bryan Lewis/Gareth Collier, this left them still in 2nd place in the League but unfortunately they then went down to a strong Stockwood Vale Team 1.5- 3.5, with the win coming from Tony Taylor/Terry Carter and with a half from Team Captain David Braithwaite/Alan Edwards.

The Seniors Open 3 person team event was very successful with a full field, mainly visitors. The course was in tip top order as was the post event catering. The best visiting team award went to a team from B & C with 80 points with a Vivary Park Team two points behind and a Cannington Team was third a further point behind. Best Mendip/Visitor Team was Derek Strudwick/Alan Edwards/Tony Scott with 71 points.
