On Thursday, 19th September, 31 Farrington Park Lady Members battled driving wind and rain to play for the Sycamore Tree Trophy.
The trophy was set up in memory of the late Chris Symes, who not only admired the sycamore tree on the eleventh fairway, which has become Farrington Park's logo, but also enjoyed fun competitions, which is why this annual competition is played as a Three Ball Bowmaker. First and winners of the trophy were Sharman Bradshaw, Suzanne Young and Carol Jones, with 75 points.
Second, with 74 points, Jacqui Gregory, Kay Clarke and Gillian Seaward, third, with 72 points, Gail Proctor, Jackie Walker and Victoria Watts. Suzanne Young, Liz Thomas, Terri O'Shea and Victoria Watts all had two spots in this competition.
The Farrington Seniors played their regular Monthly Medal and the competitors found the going surprisingly tough with only three players, from a field of seventy, breaking the net par of 72. Nearest the pin competition: fifth, Simon Wellington, eighth, Mike Swinton, fourteenth, Colin Robinson, fifteenth, Mike Henton.
