A record entry of ninety Senior golfers competed in this qualifying Stableford competition from the green tees.

On a beautiful sunny morning with very little breeze there would be no reason for anything but good golf. Wrong! There were any number of excuses flying around post competition!

In Division One the evergreen Mike Bradbury - still regularly shooting gross scores lower than his age - won the division with forty one points. In second place, just a point adrift was Ian Lake and third was Alan Elkington, who despite scoring three birdies, lost out on countback.

Division Two winner was Dave Perrett with a fine round of forty two points just pipping Ian Clement by the odd point. Jim (NB) Farmer continues his good form with forty points and a spoil of the winnings for a two on the par three eighth hole.

In the third division there was a countback involving four players, all on forty three points. Winning with a back nine of twenty two points was Paul Mitchell. In second place was Jeff ‘Sat Nav’ Kelly with twenty one on the back nine and a better back three holes than Steve Cockle in third place.

In our first ever friendly match against Worlebury there was no mercy as we ran out winners 5-1 at home. Very few of our players have played at Worlebury so there may well be instant revenge at the return fixture later in the month.
