Following from the news that several players have chosen to leave Paulton Rovers Football Club, the Manager, Tony Ricketts, has released a statement to assure supporters.

The statement, which can be found on the club’s website, says: “Following relegation last year, the club is going through and continues to complete a rebuild of its playing staff. The overhaul was necessary due to relegation, economic measures and change in playing style. All the players that remain from last year’s squad and all the new signings will all have several common goals, a point to prove, desire, commitment, ability and a willingness to improve as a collective.

“The First team squad will consist of eighteen players – this number will give us just a little more depth than last season, with additional player resources if required coming from our partnership with Purnell FC U-21s and our own Paulton U-18 youth team.

“Martyn and myself have, since our presentation night, been meeting players on a regular basis, in fact, two new players attended our end of season presentation night and we have sixteen players who have agreed to play for Paulton Rovers next season.”

The following players have confirmed to have left the club: Darren Mullings, Ben John, Tom Knighton and Craig Allan. Steve Williams and Leon Jeanne are both leaving to return to Welsh football.

Tony Ricketts said: “I would like to thank all of the lads for their efforts on behalf of the club last season and wish them well with their new clubs. I hope to be able to announce some details of our squad for next season later this week.”

Pre-season training commences Monday, 27th June at Somervale School with details of an overseas training camp to be announced next week.
