On a warm summer’s day, Tunley entertained Frome Town Sports in the eleventh year of the Freda Hookings Memorial Trophy under the new management of Duncan Fear. This was always going to be a tough game for Tunley with Duncan assembling a relatively new squad against a team promoted from the division last season.

After an even start to the game, Frome took the lead through Mason Reglar, who shortly after made it two. This brought Tunley into life and after some good passing football and an excellent cross from Mike White, Joe Fear scored to reduce the deficit.

Tunley started the second half well and from a great cross from Fear the excellent Tom Pielesz headed home to draw level after a mistake by the Frome keeper. One of a few players remaining from last season was last year’s top scorer Chris Young, who made it 3–2 to Tunley after a smart finish, following great work from debutant, John Dolman, who was dominating the midfield.

Frome drew level through Clinton Hartley, but Tunley had the last say minutes later when Lewis Collier turned the ball into his own net for the Tunley winner.

Tunley’s Man of the Match was John Dolman, who received the Barry Gould trophy, before Captain, Rich Cope-Evans, received the Freda Hookings Memorial Trophy from Freda’s family. A big thank you must also go to referee Keith ‘Flash’ Lewis who has been in the middle for all elven years of the match.

Tunley start their season on Saturday, 22nd August away at Imperial.
