Grassroots football has had a local boost this season with Chilcompton Sports forming two Under-8s teams, the Sports and the Colts.

The local teams both play five-a-side football in the Midsomer Norton Youth Football League and take part in matches on a Sunday morning.

Manager Ian Hawkins, who runs one of the two teams, was able to secure sponsorship with local business, Eyetech Opticians, which is situated in The Island Midsomer Norton, at the beginning of the new season.

Guy Dawe-Lane, Director of Eyetech Opticians said: “We have sponsored an advertising board at Chilcompton Sports for a couple of years now, so when I was asked to sponsor a match kit for the new players I was more than happy to help.

“I met Ian and his team at one of their home matches earlier this month and thought they all looked really professional in their new kits.”

Ian added: “Myself and the team are really grateful of the sponsorship from Eyetech Opticians and hope to see Guy again at one of our matches soon.”
