Hopes are high for Radstock Town’s Under-18s’ forthcoming match as they take on Woking this Thursday in the Third qualifying round tie of the Under-18s FA Youth Cup; the furthest the young side has ever reached in the competition.

Speaking to The Journal this week, Radstock’s Under-18s Manager, Ian Lanning, said: “This is the main national competition for the FA Youth and we’re potentially one game away from playing any of the league clubs.

“It’s going to be a tough game, obviously. Woking are a National League side with their youth set-up. They follow an education programme as well, so their fitness level, training and facilities will be far superior. But anything is possible on the night – we feel we are a stronger team when we play sides such as this.

“We entered the competition as Bath City Youth four seasons ago and played at Radstock Town for two seasons. Because of the progression of players, we then switched to Radstock Town, and have seen fantastic results, with the lads progressing on to the Reserves and First team at Southfields.

“If we can get through and meet one of the more regional teams in this competition, the potential and possibilities are endless.”
