Frome Town Ladies welcomed Penmill Res to Badgers Hill, brimming with confidence from their previous week’s win. The game started with Frome pushing for an early goal right from the kick-off.

That goal came on nine minutes, as Frome piled on the pressure with Penmill only half-clearing, leaving Underhill to hammer home the first goal from ten yards. Frome looked full of goals and struck their second one minute later, when Christmas played in Seviour to forcefully strike past the Penmill number one.

Wave after wave of Frome attacks continued, as Penmill struggled to get the ball into the Frome half, and on fourteen minutes, Petteford’s shot unluckily cannoned off the crossbar. Soon after, Underhill tried her luck with her left boot, and her goalward shot got diverted past the Penmill keeper by Christmas.

Frome, now 3-0 up, eased up for twenty minutes, giving the Penmill keeper and defence a thankful breather, but right on 35 minutes, Petteford got through one-on-one with the keeper, and calmly scored her first for the season.

Ten minutes to half-time, Petteford hit the bar for the second time and Ratcliffe joined the attack, only to see her shot creep wide of the post. Then, right on 45 minutes, Petteford’s effort was saved, falling kindly for Seviour to bag her second.

After Justin and Tim’s half-time talk, the Ladies started the second half with more zip, pushing Penmill back and always looking a threat. Petteford’s shot within two minutes forced a good save, and seconds later Isaacson broke free on the left, firing a fierce shot which forced a good save, but Petteford was in the right place and followed in to get Frome’s sixth and her second.

Five minutes later, Underhill struck her second of the game, leaving the keeper no chance with a fine strike. With thirty minutes still to play, Edwards got her name on the score sheet with a delightful chip from the edge of the area.

Isaacson, a threat all game, scored two more goals in ten minutes to take Frome’s tally for the afternoon to ten, and the impressive Underhill swept home her hatrick goal on 85 minutes after great forward passing between Bristow and Christmas.

Player of the Match was awarded to Petteford for her unselfish work all game and her two goals.
