Paulton Rovers along with Frome Town are awaiting guidance from the Southern League, Football Association and the Department for Sport Media and Culture to see if they can restart the 2020/21 season.
This Saturday, Paulton are due to travel to Sholing on the outskirts of Southampton in Hampshire. Both sides are therefore in Tier 2.
Guidance so far from the Government is that up to 300 spectators could be allowed at games. That will benefit Frome Town and Paulton Rovers, as well as other local clubs at a lower level.
However, clubhouses, which along with sponsorship from local businesses, are the real source of income for many clubs, can only re-open to serve drinks with a substantial meal.
Added to the problem is that some clubs in the Southern League like Mangotsfield United and Bristol Manor Farm are in Tier 3 areas, as are other sides in the equivalent pyramid League the Northern Premier and Isthmian League.
So everyone awaits a decision. Watch this space?
