PAULTON Rovers' home game against highflyers Torpoint Athletic in the Premier Divison of the Jewson Western Football League was one of a number of games postponed on Saturday, December 6, because of the bad weather.

It would have been one of the top matches being played in the division with Torpoint, beaten only once in the league this season, lying third in the table, and Rovers in fourth spot. Clevedon Town, top of the Premier Division, also found themselves with a blank Saturday after their game at Saltash fell victim of the wet weather. Other games called off in the division included: Brislington v Newquay, Oldland Abbotonians v Street, St Blazey v Shepton Mallet, Buckland Athletic v Barnstaple Town.

In one of the few games played, second-placed Sidmouth Town dropped two crucial points when they were held to a 1-1 away draw by Helston Athletic, leaving them three points behind Clevedon who have three matches in hand.

Bradford Town pulled off only their sixth win in 22 league matches when they won 3-1 at home to Wellington, a result which moved them up to 12th in the table, while Wellington remain 16th.

Meanwhile, Paulton will be looking for all three points when they play at home to struggling AFC St Austell in the Premier Division, on Saturday, December 13. Clevedon visit Wellington who are proving a difficult side to beat at home now that Richard Cherry has returned to manage the side, after stepping down only a couple of weeks before the season was due to start.
