What a game a large crowd witnessed at Shepton Mallet for the Noyce/Wells Cup between the Mid-Somerset Football League and the Yeovil Football League.

Jack Davis (Coleford) opened the scoring, then setting up Reilly (Pilton) to put the Mid-Somerset lads 2-0 up, but Yeovil pulled one back just before half-time. Yeovil opened the second half much stronger, scoring two more goals to go 3-2 up. Up stepped free-scoring Davis, who netted two more goals to win the game 4-3 and retain the Cup!

Manager, Paul Kingman, and assistant Colin Brain put together one of the best Mid-Somerset teams that has been seen in this yearly fixture, where everyone played their part in a real team performance.

It was cup day last Saturday in the Dimmock Green KO Cup. Top of the Premier League, Peasedown Albion, had to battle hard to beat a stubborn Timsbury Res team, with goals from Rico Sobers, Scott Baker and Kris Seviour, they eventually got through, 3-0.

Bath Villa won at home, 7-2, against Purnell Sports; Frome Collegians had to wait until the second half to overcome Chew Magna Res, 2-0 (getting the goals were Lee Hansford and Theo Sing), and Chilcompton Res at home needed penalties to get past a gritty Evercreech. It was 2-2 at full-time; the home team winning 3-0 on pens.

Westhill went away to Clutton and won 2-0; Coleford at home – with goals from Jack Davis (2) and Luke Sellars – beat High Littleton, and Wells A visited Meadow Rangers with a 4-1 win.

In the Tony Baxter Shield, Peasedown A won away at Evercreech, 4-1 – a hat-trick from Olly Davidson and Craig Cebers netting the goals; Farrington put seven past Westhill Res; Belrose beat local rivals, Glastonbury, away, 4-0, and Mendip Rangers had a good win away to Pilton Res, 3-1. Getting their goals were Daf Roberts (2) and Adam Rahn.

Sam Speed, Luke Woodley-Marshall and Kyle Rice got the goals for Saltford Res at home to beat Wessex 3-0, and the Under-17s Chilcompton A team beat Westfield A away 3-2, with Jake Curtis netting all the goals for the visitors and Robbie Sawyer scoring both goals for the home team.

Just one game in the Premier League this week; Westfield Res at home beat Radstock A, 10-1. Scoring the goals for the home team were Tom Lakeman (4), Sam Millard (2), Oliver Jones (2), Harry Skipper and Tom Plummer.
