Peasedown Albion of the Premier League are just a point behind leaders, Pilton United, with two games in-hand after a thumping 9-1 home victory over Westfield Res.

Getting the goals were Rico Sobers (4), Scott Baker (2), Craig Dowling (2) and Dan Hucker. Purnell Sports kept their winning run going, with thanks to the only goal of the match by Nathan Beacham, away to Radstock A. They move up a place to fourth.

In the First Division, High Littleton take over top spot, beating third-place Chew Magna Res away, 3-0. Getting their goals were Ben Ritter, Sam Garrett and Luke Tucker. Peasedown Res move up to second with a very good win at Evercreech, 7-0.

Cluttton Res secured their second win in the League this season, away to Somer Valley, winning 2-0, where the home team named Rory Rumming Man of the Match. Chilcompton Res picked up three points away to Wells A, 3-1.

Wessex, leaders of the Second Division, beat Glastonbury Res, 5-1. Amongst the goals were Dan Linham (4) and Luke Laing. Saltford Res move up to fourth after beating Timsbury A, 3-1. Getting the goals for the home team were Kyle Rice (2) and Jon Fowler, and Belrose consolidate their second place in the League, winning away at Bath Weston, 5-1.

The top two teams in the Third Division played each other this weekend. Leaders, Pilton Res, won 2-1 away to second-place Frome Collegians Res. Getting the goals for the visitors were Jo Reilly and Jack Withers.

The only other game in the division was a hard-fought match at Oakhill between Mendip Rangers and Peasedown A. The visitors went ahead on 23 minutes, and from a low corner, Andy Mortimer scrambled the ball over the line to equalise. It all happened in the second half – the home team went ahead when Daf Roberts pounced on a loose ball, hammering it into the net.

Minutes later, Peasedown were awarded a penalty, which was well-saved by Charlie Jacks in the home goal. It hadn’t finished there – after a scuffle, one of the home side was shown the red card, reducing his team to ten men for the remaining minutes, and held out to take all three points. With games in hand they are in a good place to mount an assault on the top of the League.
