The featured match last Saturday was Timsbury Res versus Somer Valley in the First Division. The young Timsbury team played well and went ahead through Jem Lutwama, who used his considerable speed down the left to create a shooting opportunity, hammering the ball past the visitors’ goalkeeper.

Justin Dowling, the ‘old man’ of the team, weaved his way into the penalty, only to be upended. He got up and slotted the resulting penalty home, increasing Timsbury’s advantage to 2-0 – this was the score at half-time.

It did not take the home team long in the second half, kicking up the slope, to increase their lead. Lutwama crossing from the left found the head of Dowling, who made no mistake from close range, a great cross from the right found Lutwama on the far post, who side-footed the ball home to make it 4-0 to the home team. Somer Valley did get a consolation goal near the end; the scorer was Jedd Cooley.

Men of the Match for Timsbury were Rawlings, who never stopped running in midfield, and Noah Millard. Playing well for Somer Valley was Hayden Powell. Great match, lads – played in the right spirit and well refereed by Graham Wilkin.
